God is just longing to spend time with us - all the time- but God especially shares of himself every Sunday in the Mass. Please read THIS ARTICLE on why it is important to go to Mass with our Church community every week.
In the Google doc below, answer the following questions: 1. What has been your experience at Mass? (And please be honest!) Do you find it peaceful, powerful, boring? Does it make you feel closer to God? 2. What did you learn from this article that can help you appreciate the Mass a little more? He lives in You
Please watch the following Lion King video fo the song "He lives in you".
In the Google form, please compare 1) the Sacrament of Confirmation with the presentation of Simba to the community and 2) How do the words in the song apply to you and your relationship with God? How does knowing that "He lives in you" change the way that you live? YOU are the Hands and Feet of Jesus
Have you ever thought of yourself as the hands and feet of Jesus? Last week in class, you reviewed the seven sacraments as way that God gives us His grace and strength so that we can live the life He has planned for us. This week we are going to going to learn a little more about the sacrament of Confirmation where we receive the gift to help us become the hands and feet of Jesus.
Please watch the following video and then, in the google form, describe how you were the hand and feet of Christ this week or a situation where you wish you had the courage to be the hands of feet of Christ.
This Sunday we are going to journey through the over 2000 year history of our Catholic Church and visit the time periods of the saints we have chosen for Confirmation. But before we do that, let's reflect on the Nicene Creed that we say every week at Mass.
Before watching the following video, read through the Nicene Creed and choose your favorite part. (Creed is found HERE) After watching the 3-min video, write a few sentences in the Google doc listing your favorite part of the Creed, why you chose it, and what you learned about the creed from watching the video.
On Sunday we read this passage form the Bible before hearing Romeo's story as a refugee from Rwanda to a true American success story.
Matt. 25:37-40 37 The righteous will then answer him, ‘When, Lord, did we ever see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you a drink? 38 When did we ever see you a stranger and welcome you in our homes, or naked and clothe you? 39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison, and visit you?’ 40 The King will reply, ‘I tell you, whenever you did this for one of the least important of these followers of mine, you did it for me!’ Please watch the video below (2 min) and in the Google form answer the following: What do you thing God is saying to you through the passage above from Matthew 25? Which stories about Jesus in the Bible inspire you the most?
If Jesus lived in the year 2017, how do you think he would react to the refugee crisis?
Last week we dove into the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew chapters 5-7, and talked about the whole reason we are training to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation and the whole reason we even have a Church is because God was made flesh in the person of Jesus. Our goal is studying the Sermon on the Mount is to learn the teachings of Jesus, in His own words. There is no simple solution to the current refugee crisis, but trying to look through the crisis through the eyes of Jesus is part of our call as Christians. This Sunday will are hosting a speaker who was at one time a refugee from Rwanda. He will share his story of hope and inspiration with us. Please watch this video about Sowdo, a refugee from Somalia, and her journey to Columbus, Ohio. Then, please fill out the Google form located after the video, answering the question, "If Jesus lived in the year 2017, how do you think he would react to the refugee crisis?"
On Sunday 9/17, we shared with each other our passions, what makes us happy, and our future goals in life. We also discussed how:
1) God also wishes that we have a happy life and that we strive for our goals. 2) While God hopes that we do strive for our dreams, God is more concerned with the character developed inside us as we strive for those dreams, and He wishes to fulfill our deepest desires. 3) The devil wishes the opposite for us and will throw all kinds of temptations at us. (Remember how the Shadow-man tempted Tiana in the Princess and the Frog?) Continuing with this theme of temptation, please watch the following Skit Guys video on God's Chisel. As watch the video, ponder the question, "Have you ever thought about yourself as God's masterpiece?" How does the message of God's Chisel relate to our discussion on Sunday about temptations? After viewing God's Chisel, please share your reflections in the Google form below. Please begin your response with the title "God's Chisel". The form can also be found through this LINK.
