If Jesus lived in the year 2017, how do you think he would react to the refugee crisis?
Last week we dove into the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew chapters 5-7, and talked about the whole reason we are training to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation and the whole reason we even have a Church is because God was made flesh in the person of Jesus. Our goal is studying the Sermon on the Mount is to learn the teachings of Jesus, in His own words. There is no simple solution to the current refugee crisis, but trying to look through the crisis through the eyes of Jesus is part of our call as Christians. This Sunday will are hosting a speaker who was at one time a refugee from Rwanda. He will share his story of hope and inspiration with us. Please watch this video about Sowdo, a refugee from Somalia, and her journey to Columbus, Ohio. Then, please fill out the Google form located after the video, answering the question, "If Jesus lived in the year 2017, how do you think he would react to the refugee crisis?"

On Sunday 9/17, we shared with each other our passions, what makes us happy, and our future goals in life. We also discussed how:
1) God also wishes that we have a happy life and that we strive for our goals. 2) While God hopes that we do strive for our dreams, God is more concerned with the character developed inside us as we strive for those dreams, and He wishes to fulfill our deepest desires. 3) The devil wishes the opposite for us and will throw all kinds of temptations at us. (Remember how the Shadow-man tempted Tiana in the Princess and the Frog?) Continuing with this theme of temptation, please watch the following Skit Guys video on God's Chisel. As watch the video, ponder the question, "Have you ever thought about yourself as God's masterpiece?" How does the message of God's Chisel relate to our discussion on Sunday about temptations? After viewing God's Chisel, please share your reflections in the Google form below. Please begin your response with the title "God's Chisel". The form can also be found through this LINK.
